Trading global indices at NSE – review after first day

Today 29th-August-2011 is the day when trading in derivatives on global indicies  have started on NSE.  It started with trading US indices S&P500 and DowJones in Futures and options segment.  Picture below indicates the activity of today.

Observations -

  1. Trading volume in both futures contract have been almost equal.
  2. Options on S&P have been traded. No options were traded on DOW.
  3. Volume of 1200 contracts is not liquid enough hence better to watch this space for further development.
